Gas-liquid chromatographic analysis of synovial fluid: volatile short-chain fatty acids in septic arthritis.
Volatile short-chain fatty acids (SCFA) in synovial fluid from 80 patients were quantified by gas-liquid chromatography (GLC). Characteristic patterns of volatile SCFA could not be associated with septic, nonseptic inflammatory, or noninflammatory groups. Mean concentrations of pentanoic and hexanoic acids were similar in all groups studied. In the septic arthritis group 3 of 4 patients with ac...
متن کامل"a gas chromatographic method for the determination of individual free fatty acids in serum"
serum fatty acids on 30 healthy lranian women were detemined by a gas chromatographic method. oleic and stearic acids were used as standards. the mean values were myristic acid 5. 7% , palmitic acid 43% , palmitoleic acid 5.3% , stearic acid 8% , oleic acid 21. 3% and linleic acid 16.4% of total fatty acid serum contents.
متن کاملA 57Co-soap assay for plasma total non-esterified fatty acids compared with a gas-liquid chromatographic method.
We describe a relatively rapid radiochemical assay for determining plasma non-esterified fatty acids, by use of a Dole-type (J. Clin. Invest. 35: 150, 1956) extraction and formation of 57Co soaps. Results correlated well (r = 0.957) with those by gas-liquid chromatography. The between-batch CV for 1.12 mmol of non-esterified fatty acids per liter was 7%; the sensitivity is estimated to be 22 mu...
متن کاملGas-chromatographic Method for Volatile Congeners in Alcoholic Beverages Analysis
Alcoholic fermentation of fruits and cereals is the primary source of alcoholic beverages production. The main component in these drinks is ethanol; but there are also many secondary products like glycerin or acetaldehyde, and mixtures of other higher-order alcohols called “fusel”, also known as congeners. They are important for the characterization of alcoholic beverages and also for forensic ...
متن کاملGas-liquid chromatographic analysis of cellular fatty acids for identification of gram-negative anaerobic bacilli.
A commercially available, computer-assisted microbial identification system (MIS) employs gas-liquid chromatographic analysis of cellular fatty acids for bacterial identification. MIS was compared with conventional identification systems. Of 225 gram-negative anaerobes tested, MIS identified 72.4% of the strains to the species level, 88.9% to the appropriate group, and 93.3% to the correct genus.
